Bevor das Areal des Nordwestbahnhofs einem neuen Wohnquartier weichen wird m\u00fcssen, wird vom Verein Tracing Spaces in einer Ausstellung vor Ort die wechselvolle Geschichte und Gegenwart dieses letzten innenstadtnahen Logistik-Knotens einem breiteren Publikum in Erinnerung gebracht.<\/p>\n

In einer kleinen historischen und ethnographischen Ausstellung dokumentieren Michael Hieslmair und Michael Zinganel die bedeutendsten historischen Ereignisse von der Er\u00f6ffnung des Bahnhofs im Jahr 1872 bis in die Gegenwart, insbesondere jedoch die illustren Zwischennutzungen am Areal die bereits mit Ende des ersten Weltkrieges eingesetzt hatten: die Bahnhofshalle fungierte u.a. als tempor\u00e4re Schihalle, als Filmdrehort und als Schauplatz f\u00fcr faschistische Propagandaveranstaltungen.<\/p>\n

Einen zweiten Schwerpunkt der Ausstellung bildet die untersch\u00e4tzte Bedeutung dieses Ortes als G\u00fcterumschlagplatz. Der Raum dient als Sammelgef\u00e4ss im Untersuchungsfeld, um hier mit Interviews vor Ort t\u00e4tiger Logistik-Expert_innen, Fotos, Pl\u00e4nen und Modellen zur Baugeschichte sowie Artefakten aus dem Logistik-Alltag auch jene Unternehmen vorzustellen, die das Areal bis heute gepr\u00e4gt haben und pr\u00e4gen.<\/p>\n

Despite its size, the area of the Nordwestbahnhof seems to have been largely suppressed from the consciousness of the Viennese population. Before the entire area has to give way to a new residential quarter, the Tracing Spaces association will present an exhibition on site to remind a wider public of the eventful history and present of this last logistics hub located close to the city centre.<\/em><\/p>\n

In a small historical and ethnographic exhibition, Michael Hieslmair and Michael Zinganel document the most important historical events from the opening of the railway station in 1872 to the present day, in particular, however, the illustrious interim uses of the area that had already begun at the end of the First World War: the station hall functioned, among other things, as a temporary ski hall, as a film location and as a venue for fascist propaganda events.<\/em><\/p>\n

A second focal point of the exhibition is the underestimated importance of this place as a hub for the transhipment of goods. The exhibition space serves as a collection container in the research field, where interviews with local logistics experts, photos, plans and models on the history of construction, as well as artefacts from everyday logistics, are used to present the companies that have shaped the area to this day.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text]
